17 Brethren visited Hamilton Mausoleum on Saturday 5th July, where they were given a fascinating masonic tour by PM David Steel, Lodge Bothwell Brig 1229. Built in 1858, and standing 123 feet (37m) tall, it was the resting place of the family of the Dukes of Hamilton. Its high stone vault previously held the record for the longest echo of any man-made structure in the world, taking 15 seconds for the sound of a slammed door to decay! Thanks to all that attended and to David for sharing his knowledge with us!

Here’s your chance to buy a little piece of lodge history! From as little as £5, you can purchase a piece of the lodge carpet, and your contribution will go directly towards the proceeds for buying a new carpet for our recently refurbished lodge premises. Please see the sheet that is displayed in the lodge premises or contact a member of staff via this link
You can choose from the 192 pieces available and once the sheet is full, your name, and lodge number where appropriate, will be permanently displayed within the lodge premises as a gesture of thanks for your contribution to this fund.
As a further incentive, there will be a number of prizes randomly picked for anyone that buys a part of the carpet!
Thanks to everyone for their efforts in Oban. Great deputation of 30 on the bus, including visitors from a number of lodges and 4 visiting RWMs. A big thanks to the visitors for their support on the day. The degree itself was almost word perfect, and probably our best of the year despite a very heavy schedule, so well done and thanks to everyone on the floor. And thanks to Lodge Oban Commercial 180 for their hospitality and hope it keeps being such a successful partnership.
I went along to Lodge Glasgow Star 219 on the 25th July to support PM Justin Cullen who was taking part in a reigning masters degree. Within minutes of arriving I was asked to be the conductor for the degree due to a last minute call off. The meeting went very well, and a deputation of 35 RWMs entered the lodge, with as many as possible taking part in an Entered Apprentice degree. It was a first class degree, and an excellent evening, if I had known I would be on the floor I would have brought some of you along with me.
