Sense Scotland was formalised as a charity in 1985 and has been working for over 25 years with children and adults who have communication support needs because of deafblindness, sensory impairment, learning and physical disabilities.
It grew quiclky, from its beginings as a small group of families pressing for services for their children, who were affected by deafblindness. Since then, the organisation has gone on to successfully support thousands of disabled people and their families, in thousands of projects and services, throughout Scotland. In 2014 the Lodge supported sense Scotland as it's main charity!
Drum roll please......
"As we told you on Friday Lodge St Andrew 524 have been fundraising for us throughout the year. We can now tell you their total raised is £5,228.85! THANK YOU
This will go up slightly as one member has had radical change in hair style and decided to ask people to donate in exchange for a shot of the scissors!
The Lodge has been fantastic to work with and we can't wait to invite them to Sense Scotland and see how their efforts are supporting others."
Main Charity - RNIB
The lodge is pleased to announce that this year’s main charity will be The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB Scotland),
This charity has been chosen as a fitting tribute to the late Norrie Robb (PM of 524) who passed away recently.
Other Charity Events
The lodge will also be undertaking events on behalf of the local Boys Brigade companies
The brethren, families and friends look forward to organising a series of events and fundraising challenges over the course of 2013 for these chosen charities.
